Palliative care aims at improving the quality of life and health care that is offered to patients who suffer from chronic and incurable diseases, such as cancer, and resulted in consequences, such as physical, psychological, and social consequences.
In this context, the Faculty of Medicine at the Islamic University of Gaza held its eighth conference titled Pain Management and Palliative Care in Palestine on the 25th and 26th of October 2019 in the university’s main conference hall.
Conference Objectives:
The conference aimed to help improve pain management and palliative care services provided to patients with chronic and threatening diseases through:

Shedding light on the importance of reducing the degree of pain for chronic disease patients and cancer patients

Shedding light on the importance of controlling the associated symptoms of the disease during and after treatment

Helping improve the quality of life for patients and their families

Shedding light on the importance of improving medical services offered to the patients, following the best evidence and standards

Suggesting mechanisms to improve communication between various health service providers

Urging laws revision to positively improve the patient status through making the needed treatments and medications available.
