Graduate Professional Diploma In Anesthesia and Intensive Care For Physicians

Description of the program

The Diploma in Anesthesia and Intensive Care is a one-and-a-half-year professional program in the field of anesthesia and intensive care medicine.
The objectives are to provide a goal-directed learning program in a wide range of aspects of anesthesia and intensive care for medical graduates whose practice may involve the area of these subjects.
The Diploma will be a good step of postgraduate specialization.

Objectives

The objectives of the Professional Program leading to the Diploma in Anesthesia and Intensive Care for physicians are to produce a graduate with the ability to:

Carry out anesthetic practice and intensive care in a safe manner to the patient, him/her self and the community.
Give anesthesia to routine cases without immediate supervision.
Give anesthesia for most of the emergency cases.
Have experience in managing patients in the intensive care unit.
Do Basic and advanced cardiac life support correctly.
Have experience in acute pain management.
Assess complicated cases as well as routine cases and call for help when needed.
Have a good attitude towards patients, colleagues, senior staff, and nurse staff.
Have good communication skills.

Enrolment requirements:

A candidate shall have

MBBS or equivalent.
Palestinian Medical Practical License.
One year clinical practice is preferable.
Passing the selection examination.
Candidates will normally be approved only after an interview by the Program consultant committee.

Graduate specifications:

Graduates of the program are expected to achieve good standard output learning and practices, which aim to clarify and develop the knowledge and skills of the participants in the following areas:

Normal anatomy and physiology are relevant to anesthesia and intensive care.
Devices and Equipment in the operation room and intensive care unit.
Pharmacology of the anesthetic drugs and other drugs commonly used in the field of the training program.
Knowledge and performance of the clinical skills of anesthesiology.
Regional anesthesia and Pain Management.
Basic and advanced knowledge in intensive care medicine.
Medical ethics and communication skills.
Research methodology and presentation skills in medicine.

Graduates’ areas of work:

Due to the presence of a severe lack of specialization in anesthesia and intensive care physicians, with the deterioration of health status and increased military occupation and invasions, and the concomitant fall of the large numbers of wounded and martyrs.

Under the siege, the doctors are unable to continue their studying abroad in the field of anesthesia and intensive care, the graduates will have excellent opportunities job as follows:

Intensive care units in hospitals in the public and private sectors.
Surgical operating rooms in hospitals and other health centers.
NGOs specialist health sector.

By the end of 2021, this Post-Graduate Diploma program has been completed by 100 students.

Program structure:

The Program is designed to be completed in 15 months, taking into account the flexibility which takes the needs of the participants with full-time job responsibilities. This flexibility enables classes to be scheduled after official working hours and during the week.
